Many times, when we start with a design, we just think clay; form and line, but once we start thinking in color, it becomes easier to decide if and how you want to glaze your ceramics.
In this online workshop we will give you a birds eye flight over the whole glazing process and then go into detail to prepare you to start experimenting on your own.
For the early beginner we have a section to learn how to choose and buy commercial glazes. Lynn Barnwell will lead this section and she will even address the possibility of mixing your own glazes with commercial glazes.
I will give you tools to expand your options to use your glazes strictly for function, but I will also help you to create techniques with glazes that you may use for decoration on your work. Some decoration techniques will also be usable for kitchenware.
We will address troubled glazes; how to identify and fix them and we will touch on altering glazes for the different base glazing techniques, like dipping, pouring, spraying and brushing on glazes.
You will get on a pathway to start reading and mixing your own glazes from a recipe.
